« Back to all news
1st American Builders, a homebuilding company in Raleigh, is building two
scaled-down replicas of their homes, as part of a new charity venture to
benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The playhouses will be auctioned
to raise money for cancer research. Each playhouse has air conditioning,
hardi-plank siding, shingles and shutters, built-in speakers, an iPod
docking station and hardwood floors. The first playhouse will be auctioned
as part of the foundation’s annual Golf Classic in Pinehurst on Aug. 9-10.
The second will be used at the 1st American model in 12 Oaks during the
Raleigh-Wake County Parade of Homes in October.
About the V Foundation
The V Foundation started with the dream of Jim Valvano, the passionate and
committed former NC State basketball coach and award-winning broadcaster,
as he battled cancer. Wanting to see the battle through to victory, Valvano
recruited friends and family to lead The V Foundation in his quest to eradicate
the disease that ultimately claimed his life. With a dire need for early
developmental, critical-stage grant support, the Foundation was formed to
assist the brilliant young researchers that will eventually find cures
for cancer.
