Mungo Homes is pleased to announce that the Feed Your Neighbor campaign has raised
more than $392,000 for Harvest Hope Food Bank. Steven Mungo, after learning last
month of the dire need at the food bank, issued at challenge to the community to
donate and promised to match all gifts up to $100,000.
Mungo was thrilled to present Executive Director Denise Holland a check today for $100,000.
Holland said "For the last 10 months, our board members can attest, the food bank has
been in 'holiday mode'. In other words, the demand for our services has been what
is typical during the holidays. And the funds were running out.
"Steven Mungo is a rainmaker," Holland stated. "Without you and Mungo Homes this
campaign never would have happened. You and your family have supported Harvest Hope
for many years and what you and the community have done has exceeded expectations."
Steven Mungo said "We felt it was our responsibility during these tough economic
times to help. Our community is fortunate to have an organization like Harvest Hope
and we commend you for your tireless effort."
Mungo thanked Citadel Broadcasting and Lamar Outdoor Advertising for getting the word
out and creating awareness.
The Feed Your Neighbor campaign officially ends on Friday, but the demand
for food and monetary donations will continue. Mungo stressed the need for continued
giving and reminded that one dollar buys ten pounds of food.
