Mungo Employees Build Home for Habitat
« Back to all news
Mungo Homes recently partnered with WMHK radio to build a new home for
Habitat for Humanity. The goal was to build the home, located off Fairfield
Road in Columbia, in 89.7 hours—the dial position for WMHK. Although
work was interrupted by some rainy weather, the home was completed as scheduled.
Mungo employees jumped at the opportunity to build the home for various
reasons. Members of the production department felt like it was an easy
way to get involved in the community. “Since it’s our job to build houses
day in and day out, this wasn't much of a stretch for me but it was great
to be able to do this for a deserving family,” said assistant project
manager, Phillip Randolph.
Closing coordinator Mary Lou Lee lives by, “‘There but for the
grace of God go I…’ If there is anything I can do for the betterment of
someone else, I want to participate. Plus I thought it would be fun to be
a part of the home building process since I'm in the office all day!”
Sales agent Bethany Way was amazed at the daily progress and, as one who
is always eager to volunteer or pitch in, just enjoyed learning how to
swing a hammer!
The new home, built for a single mom and her two small children, will be
dedicated in December.
