Local Builder Donates to Stock Shelves at Food Bank

Raleigh, NC — In this time of extreme need, 1st American Builders, a Mungo Company, has donated $10,000 to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Company principal Steven Mungo said, “With the current state of the economy, we understand that the demand is higher this year, but it’s also more difficult for the food bank to raise money. Although it has been a difficult year for the home building industry, we can’t let our neighbors be hungry. We can find the resources to help.”

“We are so grateful that The Mungo Companies is joining us in the fight hunger against hunger during this holiday season,” said Peter Werbicki, Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina President/CEO. “They are really going above and beyond by providing a generous financial contribution that will make a difference in our 34-county service area and will allow our organization to provide additional support to the more than 800 rescue missions, food pantries, soup kitchens senior and children’s programs that we serve.”

1st American would like to encourage other businesses to dig deep and do what they can to help. Supporting local food banks has long been a priority for the Mungo family of companies.

About the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is a nonprofit organization that provides food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina. The Food Bank serves a network of 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through warehouses in Durham, Greenville, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines) and Wilmington. In fiscal year 2008-2009, the Food Bank distributed nearly 37 million pounds of food and non-food essentials through these agencies. Sadly, hunger remains a serious problem in central and eastern North Carolina. In these counties, more than 480,000 struggle each day to provide enough food for their families. www.foodbankcenc.org.
