Community Builder: Red Cross VolunTeens surprise their leaderOctober 9, 2019

October 9, 2019

Sharon Draper-Pierre is a retired Army soldier who began volunteering with the Red Cross as a parent and she’s our newest Community Builder. In 2017 she became the leader of the Fort Jackson Red Cross VolunTeens and grew their youth participation as well as expanding the program to local schools.

Students meet on base at Fort Jackson and learn lessons from Draper-Pierre on how to serve the community. The VolunTeens work in the community at places such as Harvest Hope Food Bank, packaging food for the needy, or at the VA Medical Center, visiting patients. They also help out at Red Cross events around the Midlands.
