Mungo Homes Completes Hero Home for Operation: Coming HomeNovember 11, 2025
November 11, 2025
Mungo Homes is proud to announce the successful completion of its first Hero Home as part of Operation: Coming Home, an initiative dedicated to building and donating homes to local service members who have been severely wounded. In partnership with the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County and the United States Veterans Corps, Mungo Homes constructed a fully customized home for U.S. Army Green Beret SFC Eddie Kim and his wife, Valetina.
Located in Renaissance at White Oak in Garner, NC, the home was designed to meet SFC Kim’s unique needs following injuries sustained during a training event at Fort Bragg in December 2024. This home was 100% donated to the Kim family as a small token of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
About the Journey
The journey began on February 25, 2025, when SFC Kim and his wife received the surprise announcement of their new home during a reveal at a VA hospital in Richmond, Virginia. In April, the couple visited the Mungo Homes Design Center, working with Design Coordinator Kasumi Lehman to select cabinets, countertops, flooring, and lighting to make the home truly theirs.
Construction kicked off in mid-June, with milestone events celebrating the Kim family and the collaborative efforts of Mungo Homes, the U.S. Veterans Corps, and the HBA of Raleigh-Wake County. The project culminated in a heartfelt key presentation on Veteran’s Day, November 11, marking a fitting tribute to SFC Kim’s service.
About Operation: Coming Home
Founded in 2007 by local veterans and members of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County, Operation: Coming Home has built homes for dozens of wounded veterans since its first project in 2008. The Mungo Homes Hero Home is the 29th home constructed under this program, continuing a legacy of gratitude and support for those who have served our country.
A Message from Mungo Homes
“We are honored to play a part in Operation: Coming Home alongside the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County and the U.S. Veterans Corps,” said Adam Speiran, Raleigh Market President for Mungo Homes. “This is an incredible opportunity to give back to those who have served our country and provide them with the American dream of home ownership. It’s the smallest way for us to show our gratitude, and we hope to be a part of this program for years to come.”
