Recent studies reveal that Millennials – ages 26-44 – represent the largest segment of homebuyers, and two markets where Mungo builds are in the top three most popular U.S. metro areas: Raleigh-Durham, NC at number one, and Charlotte, NC, third.

Raleigh-Durham is home to the Research Triangle Park which is the largest research park in the country; three major universities: North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina, and Duke University; and world-renowned healthcare. Raleigh also has a great city vibe with local restaurants, and exceptional entertainment and arts offerings, which appeal to the Millennial population. The median price of homes purchased by Millennials in the area is $455,000 while Mungo homes in the Raleigh-Durham area start in the high $200s.

Charlotte is a major banking and economic center with exceptional job opportunities and is considered a cultural melting pot. Charlotte also include professional sports team and Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a major hub for American Airlines. While the median price of homes purchased by the Millennials segment is $425,000, Mungo homes in Charlotte start in the low $300s.

The 2025 home buying study by SmartAsset explains that many Millennials are at the peak of their earning potential, so local tax bases, housing markets, together with prosperity in the job market, paired with a friendly housing market and economy factor into determining where homes are purchased.
